I didn’t have any problems with either type, but it is a move that I think will serve Freedom well based on the fact that you can’t really predict when a stepped brass casing will exhibit separation along the “step.”įreedom has also improved its powder check system to allow for more accuracy, and newer QC protocols track and curb variances earlier in the process than ever before. Although the SuperMatch I received (now dubbed ProMatch) was one of the last runs with the stepped brass cases, the standard new-production 124 grain was already being loaded with the non-stepped X-Treme brass as of November when I received this ammo. Of note, the stepped brass in 9mm has been phased out as of Q1 2016. More importantly, though, I liked that I could see the changes he told me about as I opened each box and looked through the rounds themselves. The results have been great, and I plan to try out some other Freedom products when time and my wallet permit.īefore I started my evaluation, BJ Norris told me about the impact that some changes in Freedom’s production process have had on the quality of the final product, and I liked what I heard. Over the last few months, I have run almost 1000 rounds of Freedom Munitions 9mm through various pistols. But over the last year or so, knowing that world class shooters like Janna Reeves, BJ Norris, and Jansen Jones shoot thousands and thousands of rounds of Freedom Munitions each year (presumably without issue, since they tend to do very well in matches) I began to think that it might be time to give Freedom another “shot.” So when Janna emailed me last year about the prospect of taking another look, I was all about it. that says something.Admittedly, my very first review of Freedom Munitions back in 2014 raised some questions for me. I can see patterns for each barrel already, though both guns will still be fed M193 or 55gr FMJ blasting ammo 99% of the time.Ī government agency i know stopped using Ultramax because 9mm Glocks and MP5s were being damaged/blown up. I am only ordering bulk now out of election fears and to try different bullets down the tube. ![]() RO and everyone was hollering STOP and CEASE FIRE. The bullet did actually leave the barrel and hit the target. I have had a squib from factory new Blazer 9mm before, but that is cheap crap too. I haven't seen anything to suggest that it has significant issues. If I were concerned about cost savings, I'd look at shooting steel case wolf or wolf gold. I've also grown fond of my fingers and eyes. I've got too much $ invested in some of my rifles to take that risk. ![]() Saved some money and it was reasonably accurate.īut then I had an issue (squib) and I found multiple threads about rifles being destroyed due to overpressure and other defects. There ammo has been 100% reliable for me, so I will keep using them.ġ0 years ago I was shooting Ultramax reman ammo without issue. They are a big supporter of 3 gun and the second amendment. Maybe I am just really lucky, but I will keep using them. It has functioned with carbine, mid, and intermediate gas systems. 223 has been shot through my 11.5, 14.5 and my 16 in guns. ![]() I have shot the 9mm through my glocks, an M&P, and my scorpion SBR. I have shot probably around 10,000 9mm and 10,000. Everytime I read about freedom munitions on here I just don't get it.
